Ms. Niklaus’ 4th grade math class took a hands-on approach to practicing their area and perimeter formulas this week. Students have been learning how to apply their multiplication and mathematical reasoning skills to real-life area and perimeter problems. To reinforce these topics, they ventured into the fourth grade hallway to investigate the area and perimeter of various floor tile quadrilaterals. After counting floor tiles to determine the length and width of the rectangles, they created their own multiplication and addition equations to help solve for each shape’s area and perimeter.
